USM+1
Your Direct Path to USM.
The USM+1 channel offers qualified students a special direct intake opportunity to pursue a full-fee undergraduate degree at Universiti Sains Malaysia.
What is USM+1?
USM+1 is a special intake channel for students who meet the academic requirements to apply directly for their preferred degree programmes at Universiti Sains Malaysia.
This is a full-fee pathway, where programmes are self-financed and do not receive government subsidy.
Admissions are open for Semester 1 and Semester 2 intake each academic year.
Who Can Apply?
Open to leavers of:
- STPM
- Matrikulasi / Asasi
- A-Level, International Baccalaureate (IB)
- AUSMAT, SAM, CPU
- Diploma and other equivalent qualifications
General Requirement
Academic Requirements
STPM
- SPM / equivalent with a credit in Bahasa Melayu or Bahasa Melayu July Paper, and a pass in History.
- STPM with at least:
- Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in General Studies
- Good CGPA and subject grades according to programme requirements.
Note: A pass in History at SPM level has been required since 2013.
Matriculation (KPM) / Foundation (UM, UKM, UiTM)
- SPM / equivalent with a credit in Bahasa Melayu or Bahasa Melayu July Paper, and a pass in History.
- Matriculation / Foundation with a good CGPA and programme-specific requirements.
Note: A pass in History at SPM level has been required since 2013.
Diploma / Equivalent
- SPM / equivalent with a credit in Bahasa Melayu or Bahasa Melayu July Paper, and a pass in History.
- Diploma, A-Level, IB, AUSMAT, SAM or other qualifications recognised by the University.
Notes:
• Subject exemptions may apply for Diploma holders.
• History at SPM level is required since 2013.
• Includes STPM (non-current), MUFY, UNSW Foundation, SAM, VCE, CPU/CIMP, NCEA Level 3, and equivalents.
English Language Requirements
- All applicants are required to obtain at least:
- Band 2 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or equivalent.
- Equivalent qualifications may include:
- IELTS
- TOEFL
- Other English proficiency tests recognised by the University.
Note: English language requirement may vary depending on the programme of study.
